SAI beat SSB to lifthockey tournament

Lucknow: Sports Authority of India (SAI), Lucknow, triumphed over SSB 2-0 to lift the inaugural trophy of the 1st Bula Ganguly Women's Hockey Tournament at CB Gupta Ground here on Sunday.
The clash between SAI Lucknow and SSB remained goalless through three quarters. In the last moments of the game, the situation changed for SAI Lucknow when Divya scored a field goal in the 54th minute, followed by Manisha Patel who also scored a field goal, continuing the lead in the last moments of the game by 2-0. SSB failed to open their account.
SSB's Rajni Bala was adjudged player of the tournament with a prize of Rs 10,000. The best goalkeeper and promising player award went to Sport Hostel Lucknow's Ashika Verma (Rs 5,000). The best back, half back and forward awards went to SSB's Preeti Singh, SAI's Priyanka and SAI Lucknow's Sonika Rawat (Rs 2,000 each). The awards were given by former hockey player Rekha Thapadiyal.
