Lucknow: The state government will offer concessions in addition to the subsidies provided in the UP Dairy Development and Milk Production Promotion Policy-2022 to promote milk products from Uttar Pradesh globally. “Several schemes are being run to revive the dairy sector in the state. To make the sector self-reliant, the government is working on branding of milk products, promotion of milk production, setting up of new plants and cold chains, purchase of milk centre equipment, installation of bulk milk cooler, refrigerated van, cooling van, and road milk tanker.
The government is also giving huge subsidy on these,” said Shashi Bhushan Lal Sushil, commissioner, dairy development department.
To promote the export of processed milk products, the government will offer a subsidy of 25%, up to a maximum of Rs 20 lakh, on the total expenditure incurred on transportation by road to airport, or sea port.
Similarly, Rs 40 lakh will be offered for export promotion, which will be provided on the basis of exports through ship or aircraft. To encourage exports, 50% of total cost, up to a maximum of Rs 5 lakh, will be given as grant for sending samples of milk products to other countries. In the Milk Policy-2022, the government has made provision for giving a grant of Rs 5 lakh for the patent and design of the product along with encouraging standardization of milk products.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also announced exemption from electricity charges for 10 years to promote new milk processing plants. Under the policy, stamp duty on the purchase of land, or for taking land on lease for a new plant has been waived.
