Prayagraj: Three days after the Sangam stampede incident in which 30 devotees died and 60 others were injured, Chief Minister
Yogi Adityanath, on Saturday, visited the site of the tragedy for a spot inspection and issued a set of directives to officials for the next Amrit Snan. Before that he also conducted aerial survey of the entire Sangam city, inspecting roads leading to the Maha Kumbh area and took stock of the overall situation.
He also focused on key routes connecting Prayagraj to various districts, especially those affected by heavy traffic flow during and after the Mauni Amavasya Snan.
To ensure smooth movement, the CM instructed officials to make adequate arrangements for large influx of devotees coming from across the country for holy dip in Triveni Sangam. He asked officials to initiate measures to prevent traffic congestion on highways and within the city.
The CM also directed officials for proper parking facilities along all major routes, ensuring devotees' vehicles were parked systematically and convenient transport provided from parking areas to the Sangam. To assist visitors, signages in multiple languages have been installed and all necessary amenities were available on highways for the comfort of devotees.
There are seven major routes linking Prayagraj to different districts. During the Amrit Snan of Mauni Amavasya, millions of devotees arrived at Maha Kumbh in private vehicles and UP State Road Transport Corporation buses.
After landing at the helipad, the CM directly moved towards the Sangam Nose and took stock of the entire stampede incident.
He asked mela administrative and police officials about the sequence of events that occurred during Mauni Amavasya Snan stampede and interacted with devotees. The CM inquired about the entire incident from Mela Akhikari Vijay Kiran Anand and DIG (Mela) Vaibhav Krishna.
At the site, Mela Akhikari briefed the CM about sequence of events and how injured devotees were being shifted to hospitals for treatment. The CM issued a set of directives for the upcoming Basant Panchmi Amrit Snan.
Pointedly, after inspecting the site and receiving a full briefing on the incident, the CM talked to scores of devotees at length. The devotees chanted "Ganga Mai Ki Jai," "Har Har Mahadev," and "Jai Shri Ram" and on finding the CM with them.
