Ludhiana: A state-level meeting of
Punjab Pradesh Beopar Mandal (PPBM) was organised in Ludhiana on Sunday. During the meeting, it was decided that PPBM members would put up strong resistence to checks being conducted by GST authorities under the drive against suspicious registrations. Several industrialists, who were invited as special guests, decided to lend full support to PPBM.
The businessmen also slammed Punjab government for increasing rates of power and announced that they would stage a protest outside ministers’ houses if the hike was not rolled back.
Sunil Mehra, state general secretary, PPBM said, “Recently, GST authorities started a campaign under which they will visit business premises of registered dealers for physical verification. There is huge risk of
innocent businessmen being harassed in this futile exercise, which will again fail to achieve anything.” tnn
