Man kills brother over family dispute

Madurai: A 29-year-old man was arrested by Madurai rural district police for murdering his younger brother, who allegedly verbally abused their mother on Wednesday night.
Police said the deceased, P Aravind, 27, and his elder brother, P Raja, 29, were living with their mother at their house in Muthuvelpatti near Melur. Around 9.30 pm on Wednesday, Aravind allegedly verbally abused their mother over a family dispute. Raja intervened and asked him to step aside. As Aravind refused, the situation escalated, and Raja assaulted him with a wooden log. Aravind suffered head injuries and died on the spot. Melur police registered a murder case and arrested Raja for his brother's murder. The body was sent for post-mortem to Melur Govt Hospital.
