‘BJP is not against guarantee schemes’

Mangaluru: Reacting sharply to the allegations of the Congress, BJP Dakshina Kannada district president Sudarshan Moodbidri said the opposition party is not against the guarantee schemes.
“BJP is not against guarantee schemes. Let the Congress government implement all the schemes properly,” Sudarshan said, brushing aside the allegations made by Congress.
He said the Congress in Dakshina Kannada district has been trying to divert people’s attention.
“Congress in Dakshina Kannada has been spreading misinformation that BJP is against guarantee schemes. It is an attempt to divert people’s attention from its failures,” he claimed.
MLC and Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee president K Harish Kumar had on Thursday said BJP leaders who oppose government’s guarantee schemes should ask people not to avail the benefits. Reacting to this, Sudarshan said, “If Congress has the guts, then let them announce that the schemes are meant only for those who voted for their party.”
Sudarshan said BJP wants all the guarantee schemes to be implemented without conditions.
‘Govt cheating people’
“The government is now cheating people by introducing conditions to the schemes. We have witnessed earlier instances when the Congress implemented schemes on the basis of caste. However, BJP implements schemes with the motto ‘sab ka saath, sab ka vikaas’. The central government has been continuing the distribution of 5kg of rice for free,” he said.
On the alleged denial of rice to Karnataka, Sudarshan said the central government keeps sufficient stock of rice to ensure supply to all states in times of crisis, and not just for Karnataka.
