Among the three, the first one is Rohan Monteiro, who played a transformative role in Mangaluru’s progress. A dynamic real estate entrepreneur, he founded Property Real Estate and Rohan Corporation at a young age, revolutionising the city's infrastructure.
Beyond business, Monteiro dedicated over three decades to social service, significantly impacting education, healthcare, rehabilitation, culture, and community development. Monteiro’s commitment to education is evident through his support for scholarship programmes led by NGOs in the region.
The second honorary doctorate, M N Rajendra Kumar, has been a transformative leader in the cooperative movement for over 45 years, advocating ‘equal shares and equal opportunities for all.’
Through the Navodaya Grama Vikas Charitable Trust, he impacted over 4.5 lakh people across seven districts by establishing 35,178 self-help groups (SHGs) that promote financial inclusion and empower rural women.
