The balloons bore campaign stickers of former Aam Aadmi Party MLA from the Delhi Cantonment seat, Commando Surendra Singh, who is now in BJP.

Former pradhan of Batnor village Nayab Husain told TOI, "These balloons fell in an agricultural field in our village. Four children - Zoren, Shadab, Samad and Gulfam (aged 14 to 16 years) were collecting fodder when they saw the balloons and picked them up."

‘4 kids suffer burn injuries on faces’

As they were bringing the balloons home, one came in contact with a bike silencer and exploded, triggering a chain reaction. All four children suffered burn injuries in their faces and hands,” Husain said.

After getting information, police personnel reached the village and rushed the victims to Meerut govt medical college. However, the families of the victims shifted the children to a private medical facility.
