Cops record statement of actor’s kin

MUMBAI: Juhu police recorded the statement of actor Suresh Oberoi’s nephew, Anant Oberoi, in the case where the family received threat calls. The Juhu police are now trying to trace the person who made the calls.
“Anant, a businessman, is having an ongoing civil dispute with a person who worked with him in his company earlier. Suresh had tried to broker a settlement between the two, but in vain.The matter is now in court,” said DCP (zone IX) Pratap Dighavkar.
“In September, Suresh had lodged a complaint about threat calls from the underworld. Anant was a party in the case. In his statement on Sunday, Anant told us that he had received another threat call recently.”
The Juhu police and the ATS are now verifying if the caller is a member of the underworld. The call was made from an international number. The Oberois had also applied for police protection.
