Officials of Santacruz police station who were patrolling around Khetwadi said that they informed the organisers not to deploy DJs to play music as the Bombay high court has prohibited it, but they did not pay heed.

The police confiscated the truck on which the DJ system had been installed by Navyuva Sangh Ganeshsotav Sarvajanik Mandal.

The police allowed the procession for immersion to proceed after stopping the music. The police said they had seized the music equipment after issuing warnings to the organisers.

Senior inspector Santacruz police station, Shriram Koregaonkar, said that the action has been taken against Rajat Singh who had arranged for the DJ system. "We have made a diary entry of the matter at the police station and seized the truck and the DJ music system. The DJ and music system produce a minimum sound of around 100 decibels. Action was taken as the organisers did not stop playing the music despite our warning," said Koregaonkar.

Sub-inspector Sudheer More said that when the organisers did not stop playing they called five panchas to the spot as witnesses to confirm that the noise level was beyond the permitted level.

"The seized music system will be handed over to the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) along with a police report. The MPCB will decide the next course of action," said More.
