Seinfeld show hits air pocket, gets called off
MUMBAI: All those who had booked tickets for the Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning stand-up comedian Jerry Seinfeld’s show at NSCI, Worli this weekend have been left without a smile.
The organizers of ‘The Jerry Seinfeld Show’ said they were “issues related to traffic and parking at the venue, which were brought to our attention only a couple of days ago, forced the cancellation of all artist travel arrangements.’’
“Inspite of our best efforts to resolve these matters with the authorities quickly, which resulted in suitable alternate parking and traffic plans being arranged, this was not in time to reorganize the required artist travel logistics.’’
The police say it has no role in the cancellation.

After imposing more do’s and don’ts on traffic and parking requirements, the police had given its go-ahead.
On Thursday night, the show organizer’s got back to the police informing that the show stands cancelled and requested that the police bandobast, which had been asked for, be withdrawn.
“The police have given sanction for the show. It was the artiste who cancelled the show. The organizer informed on Thursday around midnight that the show has been cancelled due to transportation and travel issues,” said deputy police commissioner S Jaykumar.

The organizer informed them that the travel plan was charted in advance after fixing the show schedule. “However at the last moment the artiste had to pull back, according to the organizers, due to non-availability of charter planes, which the artiste was to take to fly to Mumbai,” Jaykumar added. NSCI secretary Rakesh Malhotra also said that the organizer had informed the club about the cancellation. “We received a letter on Friday informing us about the cancellation. No reasons were cited.” The NSCI stadium was in the news after cops beat up club members and prevented their entry while CM Devendra Fadnavis was a chief guest at a fashion show recently.
