‘Pay contract workers salaries by 5th of every month'
The wages of contractual workers employed in hostels under the departments of social welfare, backward classes, and minorities welfare must be paid by the 5th of every month, said DC Kumara.
He emphasised that any delay in wage payment would result in stringent actions. During a meeting, which focused on addressing the grievances of employees working in hostels on a contractual basis, Kumara stressed on the importance of ensuring that officials verify that agencies are meeting the wage payment deadlines. Once verified, officials must promptly clear and pay the bills to the agencies.
In addition to the wage payment directive, Kumara mandated that health insurance be made compulsory for all employees working in the hostels. He further instructed that after salaries are disbursed, employees must be provided with pay slips, ESI contributions, and provident fund contributions.
