Vatal on language row: K’taka must shut down on March 22
Mysuru: Announcing plans to lay siege to Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru on Monday, Kannada activist and former MLA Vatal Nagaraj on Sunday said the plan to hold a statewide Karnataka bandh on March 22, demanding action against those attacking Karnataka transport staff, is on.
He spoke to reporters here after a protest against the MES, accusing its activists of misconduct at the Belagavi border. He emphasised that the strength of the border region, Kannada, and Kannadigas should be demonstrated by shutting down Karnataka. He insisted that the power of Kannadigas should be recognised across the country, and for that, Karnataka must be completely shut down on March 22.
Nagaraj highlighted the need for development in the districts of North Karnataka and Hyderabad Karnataka regions, expressing that the Union govt has neglected the state. In this context, there should be an unprecedented bandh in Karnataka. More than 1,900 Kannada organisations have expressed their support for the bandh, he added.
"Some people may oppose the bandh. They, according to me, are ignorant. There should be an atmosphere to sacrifice everything for Kannada. Even students must be ready to sacrifice everything for one day to express their solidarity," he stated.
