Marathi films’ dry run It is not a hidden fact that post the release of highest Marathi grosser, Sairat, none of the Marathi films have managed to attain the success that Nagraj Manjule’s film has got. When asked how to stop this dry run of Marathi films, the actor-turned-filmmaker replied, “This is a common thing that happens after each pathbreaking film, be it Sholay or Hum Apke Hain Kaun. The problem is that when a particular film becomes a blockbuster, cinegoers start expecting the same with every release. But every Marathi film can’t be Sairat.” He went on to add, “But we fail to understand every film is different and has its own flavour; it is unfair to compare. The euphoria that Sairat created, will take some time to ebb. The story, the characters, the cast — everything worked for the film and it had the backing of one of the biggest production houses. How many Marathi films are lucky enough get the budget that was used to market Sairat?”
Saoji love Interestingly, the actor who has come to Nagpur on several occasions, is also in love with Saoji cuisine. “Whenever I come to Nagpur, I try Nagpur’s typical cuisine Saoji,” he shared.
