Noida: The Centre has approved an electronics manufacturing cluster (EMC) across 206 acres off the Yamuna Expressway. The project — coming up in Sector 10 of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region — will feature a flatted factory complex, dedicated manufacturing zones, and modern infrastructure to support production of electronics.
Havells — as the anchor investor — will be allotted 50 acres within the cluster to set up a manufacturing facility focusing on domestic appliances, such as fans, air conditioners, coolers, lighting products, switchgear, and cables. The company, officials said, will invest Rs 800 crore in the project and is expected to generate over 1,000 jobs in the first phase alone. Production is scheduled to start by 2026.
According to officials, the project — being established under the Centre's EMC 2.0 scheme — is aimed at developing UP into a hub for electronics manufacturing. Given its strategic location near the Yamuna Expressway and the upcoming Noida International Airport, the cluster is expected to draw significant investment in electronics and allied sectors.
"Now that the Centre has approved the project, we will proceed with allotting land to Havells and finalising the framework for the rest of the cluster. We expect this project to trigger a cascading effect, attracting multiple ancillary and electronics component manufacturing units," said Arun Vir Singh, the YEIDA CEO.
The entire cluster will be established in a phased manner, with the remaining land developed through a special purpose vehicle comprising Havells and its ancillary partners. Asked about the funding, officials said the Centre had sanctioned Rs 144 crore for the project, while YEIDA would spend over Rs 340 crore on roads, power and water supply networks.
Of the cluster's total area of 206 acres, 39 acres will be used for infrastructure such as roads and green spaces. Besides Havells, the industrial area will feature 66 plots spread across 106 acres and a flatted factory complex on 16-acre, housing 176 ready-built units of different sizes. These units will provide ready-to-move-in spaces for startups and smaller companies in the electronics sector.
"This project will not only create a robust electronics hub but also generate employment at scale. We expect over 11,000 direct jobs and around 20,000 indirect jobs to be created," officials said.
The state govt has designated YEIDA as the project's implementing agency. Officials said the entire development is slated for completion by Jan 31, 2028.
Under the EMC 2.0 scheme — launched by the electronics and information technology ministry — financial support is provided to state agencies to create infrastructure that attracts global and domestic electronics players. The scheme is designed to make manufacturing cost-effective by offering plug-and-play facilities and shared utilities.
"EMC 2.0 is designed to attract major players to invest in India's electronics sector by reducing the cost of setting up manufacturing bases through shared infrastructure and plug-and-play facilities," an official said.
