Meanwhile, a committee has been formed to settle the issue.
According to DSP Brijesh Singh, around 2,500 employees worked in the apparel manufacturing company in D block in sector 63. The company had been reeling under losses and, therefore, the management decided to lay off around 250 employees. When some employees came to know about the development, they raised objections on the decision. "Instead of giving three months advance salary, the company management forcefully laid off the employees. The company has also hired some bouncers for the same. On Friday, we went to the office for talks, but the management did not consider our plea," said a protesting employee.
After that, the employees turned violent and staged a protest. Soon the cops were informed and city magistrate Sanjay Chauhan, SP city Anant Dev Tiwari, labour department officials and other senior police officials rushed to the spot. "Three employees, Netrapal, Rajiv and Amarpal, were injured in the incident. They were rushed to a nearby private hospital where they are recuperating,"," said a senior police officer.
The district labour department has now formed a committee including company employees. To settle the matter, a meeting would be held between company management, employees and district labour department on Saturday.
