CM to launch ‘Mahila Samvad’ programme in state from today
Patna: As the political parties and alliance partners have started preparations for the assembly elections in state due in Oct-Nov this year, CM Nitish Kumar will launch the 'Mahila Samvad' programme on Friday, to consolidate his support base among the women by reminding them of the welfare measures taken by his govt in the past 19 years.
The CM will flag off 50 vehicles from his official residence at 1 Anne Marg to different parts of the state as part of the programme, which is to continue for two months and cover 70,000 places, including 600 places on the first day on Friday.
Sources said the programme across the state will continue for the next two months. The women will be informed through dialogues about the measures taken by the govt, including the Bihar State Women Empowerment Policy, 2015, self-help groups, JEEViKA, CM Kanya Uthhan Yojana, dress and bicycle schemes for schoolgirls, liquor prohibition and steps against child marriage and dowry.
The state govt, through this dialogue programme, will also try to understand the problems women are facing in Bihar. One of the purposes of the dialogue is to know women's viewpoints on development. Their problems and ideas will be communicated to the state headquarters to plan solutions.
Earlier, Nitish completed his Pragati Yatra and laid foundation stones for projects worth several crores in the 38 districts of the state. The 'Mahila Samvad' will be conducted by the Rural Development Department in 1200 villages of the state every day through JEEViKA.
The maximum number of such dialogues will be scheduled in Muzaffarpur district. Around 1400 meetings are to be held in Patna district alone.
