PATNA: As muscleman-turned-politician
Anand Mohan Singh walked out of jail on Thursday, political observers said he might enter politics against and may contest parliamentary election from any constituency in Kosi region.
Mohan's past political career shows he had sour relations with Rashtriya Janata Dal (
RJD) chief
Lalu Prasad initially. While Lalu was a common foe for Mohan and Nitish Kumar then, the scenario has changed now.
Mohan's son
Chetan Anand is an RJD MLA and Nitish and Lalu are together.
They are now trying to unite the opposition parties in the country to fight against the BJP. Mohan also had BJP's support earlier. He had won the 1996 Lok Sabha election from jail on Samata Party's ticket with BJP support.
Senior RJD leader and party's national general secretary Bhola Yadav said Mohan's support base would be crucial in the upcoming election. "Every individual has some influence. Even if a common man, who joins a particular party, gets his family votes for that party," Yadav said.
However, Mohan's children Chetan and Surabhi did not talk much on the political aspirations of their father. Surabhi told mediapersons it was a happy moment for the family. The siblings thanked everyone for their love towards their father.
Political observers are keeping a close watch on the developments revolving around Mohan's release. "He will first see legal aspects and if there is no hurdle, he would definitely contest the upcoming Lok Sabha election. In case of any legal issue, his family members are there to try their luck," said a political expert, adding Mohan will also play an important role in those constituencies where Rajputs have a significant presence.
"Now Raghuvanshi-Yaduvanshi card will be played, unlike Rajput versus Yadav narrative which Mohan had focused in early 1990s," he added.
