PATNA: The controversial RJD MLC and brother of chief minister Rabri Devi, Subhash Yadav, has emerged as the kingmaker in the Patna Municipal Corporation with 34 newly elected ward councillors authorising him to name its mayor and deputy mayor. A meeting of the ward councillors at the residence of Subhash on Thursday saw him being declared their unquestioned leader.
Subhash, while refusing to divulge the names of the candidates selected for the two posts, stressed that he would announce the names after another meeting with the ward councillors on June 25. The ward councillors were offered doles by Subhash and his followers — ministers of state Surendra Yadav and Dadan Pahalwan. Subhash promised to provide Rs 2 lakh for construction of sheds in the wards of the councillors supporting him.He also promised the ward councillors sodium vapour lights and water tankers. Dadan Pahalwan stated that Subhash Yadav always helps persons who are faithful to him. “See how he made Azad Gandhi an MLC,� the maverick minister said while insisting that the ward councillors have passed just their first exam in their journey in politics. He predicted that Subhash would be the next MP from the Patna parliamentary constituency. Subhash, while addressing the meeting, stressed that now that the ward councillors have expressed their full faith in him, he is available for them any time 24 hours a day. He, however, cautioned them against “other forces� trying to lure them away.
