PUNE: The crime branch on Thursday claimed to have solved 15 house break-ins in Sangvi, Hinjewadi and Chinchwad areas following the arrest of a gang of three.
The suspects have been identified as Anil Malhari Talware (22) of Pimpri, Ravi alias Raghu Ashok Giri (23) of Bhosari and Nitin Landage (23) of Moshi.
Investigations have revealed that the three were also involved in a chain snatching incident in Chinchwad on April, 14.
The police team led by inspector Mohan Vidhate of crime branch (unit-III) nabbed the suspects during the checks carried out in lodges and hotels on August 8, said deputy commissioner of police (crime) Rajesh Bansode while addressing the press reporters.
Bansode said during sustained interrogation, the suspects revealed their involvement in 15 house break-ins in the city. "We have recovered gold worth Rs 15 lakh from them," Bansode said.
Inspector Vidhate said all three have previous criminal record. "They came in contact with each other at Yerawada central prison and started carrying out the offences together after their release," Vidhate said.
Vidhate said they used to steal motorcycles to commit burglaries. "They used to commit the burglaries during the night," Vidhate said adding, "The three have been sent to police custody till August 22."
The investigating team comprised of sub-inspector Jalindar Tandale, police constables Ashok Gaikwad, Vijay Kamble, Bharat Udale, Shakir Jinedi and Prasad Kamble.
