PUNE: The body of 29-year old techie Pranav Mishra, who had gone to Mulshi dam for a picnic on Monday, was recovered on Tuesday evening from the dam waters.
“Mishra, who resided in Hinjewardi, and his friends had gone to the dam site for a picnic,” police inspector Ashok Dhumal of the Paud police station told TOI. “Some members of the group went in the water while the others stood nearby.
They were all taking photographs and playing in the water and did not notice when Mishra went missing.”
Dhumal said that when they did realise he was not there they searched for him. They thought he might be in the water and alerted the villagers. “Local residents then called fire brigade and police officers,” he said.
A message was sent to the
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and a team rushed to the dam site. A day-long search began and in the evening Mishra’s body was recovered.
Dhumal said that Mishra was employed with a software company at the Hinjewadi IT Park. He was a native of Odissa and was had rented a place in Hinjewadi. “We are yet to take down the statements of his relatives and friends,” he said.
