Externed criminal killed in family clash

Pune: A 35-year-old criminal visiting home in violation of externment order was killed, while two others were injured in a clash between family members following a dispute over children at Sayyednagar in Wanowrie on Thursday night.
Police identified the deceased as Azim Shaikh from Sayyednagar. The injured include Sharukh and Shakeel (full name not known).
Deputy commissioner of police (zone V) Vikrant Deshmukh told TOI, “Externed criminal Shaikh was visiting his home in Sayyednagar when a dispute broke out between two groups within the family after children started fighting among themselves.”
Deshmukh said as the dispute escalated, the rival group comprising four to five men attacked Shaikh, after which he ran out of the house to save himself. This is when a member of the rival group attacked him with a knife, he said.
When two members of the family intervened, they were attacked too. “Azim later succumbed to his injuries,” Deshmukh said, adding that police teams have been fanned out to trace and arrest the suspects.
