Woman alleges harassment, triple talaq
Rajkot: A 28-year-old woman, Noorjahan Girach, has filed a complaint against her husband, Aman Girach, at Junagadh Women's police station, alleging harassment, assault and triple talaq.
The complaint, filed under Indian Penal Code sections dealing with insults, causing hurt and relevant sections of the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019 for pronouncing triple talaq, alleges that Aman subjected Noorjahan to physical and mental harassment and verbally pronounced divorce three times in the presence of her mother and sister.
According to the FIR, Noorjahan married Aman on Dec 11, 2020, and they have a son. Two months into their marriage, Aman allegedly opened a bank account in Noorjahan's name and used her credit card without her knowledge. Aman, who worked in Gandhidham, allegedly drank liquor and assaulted Noorjahan, even during her pregnancy. When Aman was in debt, Noorjahan's mother lent him Rs 3 lakh, which he later refused to repay.
On April 15, a message appeared on Aman's Instagram and when Noorjahan inquired about it, he fought with her and expressed his desire to end their relationship. In the presence of her mother and sister, he allegedly said ‘talaq' three times and gave Arsh to her, Noorjahan stated in the complaint.
The case is being investigated by Junagadh Women's police station.
