Govt staff to get extra benefits with SBI salary account
Ranchi: The Jharkhand govt and the State Bank of India (SBI) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) under which the latter would provide various insurances and other benefits to the govt employees having salary accounts in the bank.
Special secretary of finance department, Rajeshwari B, and deputy general manager of SBI, Devesh Mittal, signed the MoU in presence of chief minister Hemant Soren and finance minister Radha Krishana Kishore.
Employees will get various benefits, including accidental insurance cover of up to Rs 1 crore, health insurance, and life insurance at no additional cost.
The plan would cover around one lakh employees. The CM said, "The state govt is committed to welfare of its employees and this is a step towards that direction." The bank has already signed a MoU with the police department in Sep 2024 to provide similar benefits to its 70,000 personnel. The finance minister said that with 579 branches, SBI has a strong presence in the state.
