Union min Naidu praises forest preservation by Khasi community

Shillong: CM Conrad K Sangma and Union minister of civil aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu on Friday attended the 4th Janjatiya Gaurav Divas celebrations at the state convention centre in Shillong.
The event was organised by the state rural employment society community & rural development, in collaboration with the office of the East Khasi Hills deputy commissioner.
Celebrating Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, among the three major tribes of the state, Naidu said, “To be here with the tribal brothers and sisters and be able to celebrate the event is a tribute in itself to all the tribal freedom fighters and leaders who fought for their rights and have protected the identity and culture of their people. To pay tribute to them is extremely honourable”.
Happy with the forest preservation practice of the Khasi community, the minister said, “During my two-day visit, I have seen the people of Meghalaya respect the need to protect nature. The world can learn from the tribal community.”
