Shimla mayor Sanjay Chauhan and deputy mayor Tikender Panwar opposed state government's decision and filed a plea to High court earlier this year.
"This chaos may force Centre to exclude both cities from both projects" Shimla resident Heera Lal Thakur said.
"We request from state government to not to play with rights of people and just rank cities as these cities deserve" Shimla Nagrik Sabha president Vijender Mehra.
Shimla mayor Sanjay Chauhan said that there is no such confusion and their claim for smart city is justifiable. He said that he is happy that their stand has been vindicated as law of land has prevailed with this victory of common man over misused powers of bureaucracy and state government. "Remaining under AMRUT, we can also become smart city at the same time as Dehradoon is also under AMRUT."
