T'puram: Bringing young people to the world of books will empower the future, said governor Rajendra Arlekar. He was speaking at inauguration of the closing ceremony of Kattal book festival here on Monday.
He said that such literary festivals help bring people closer to literature. Public participation in the closing ceremony of the book festival is evidence that the love for literature still exists among people.
General education minister V Sivankutty noted the festival has become a meeting place for writers, readers and thinkers. T Padmanabhan, who was awarded Kattal Prize, gifted Malayalam literature with its most unforgettable characters and intricate emotional landscapes, he added.
The event was presided over by IB Satheesh, MLA, with organizing committee chairman Murukan Kattakada and others. TNN
