THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala and KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran condemned the attempts to ruin the peaceful atmosphere prevailing at Sabarimala. Congress alleged a conspiracy was afoot with the arrival of Bhumata Brigade leader Trupti Desai and that LDF government was also part of it.
“Last pilgrimage season, BJP and CPM created tension in Sabarimala as they tried to utilize the opportunity for political gains, affecting peace.

This year, they are attempting it again,” said Chennithala.
Desai, who has Sangh Parivar backing, and Bindu Ammini, who has CPM background, are trying to reach Sabarimala and create trouble. They should stop their attempt and those supporting them should back out. Government should ensure that the beliefs of Sabarimala are protected, he added.
Ramachandran said the double standards of LDF government has led to the present situation. “Though ministers are claiming that women will not be given protection to visit Sabarimala, the chief minister has not given a clarification on government's stand,” he said.
There were reports that Bindu had met minister AK Balan at the Secretariat before starting her trip to Sabarimala. Desai’s political background must be verified. There is an element of conspiracy behind their attempt to visit Sabarimala, he said.
