THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state police complaints authority on Monday criticized transport commissioner
Rishiraj Singh for failing to file his explanation in connection with a complaint against him, after being directed several times.
According to sources, a full quorum meeting of the authority held on Monday strongly flayed Rishiraj Singh for the reluctance he showed to appear before the authority despite repeated notice in connection with a case on a complaint filed by the proprietors of Welgates Videos against the CD raids he conducted at their video library in 2006 while he was the nodal officer of the anti-piracy cell.
Earlier too, Rishiraj Singh had come under the criticism of SPCA chairman Justice K P Balachandran, who even wrote to the chief secretary suggesting appropriate action against Singh, whom the authority issued two summonses dated January 15 and March 11 this year.
He also noted in the letter that without the cooperation of police officials against whom allegations were made, the authority couldn't function in the way it was expected to function.
In October, Rishiraj Singh had secured a favourable order from the state high court in staying the disciplinary proceedings against him.
Meanwhile on Monday, state police chief K S Balasubramanian also came under the harsh criticism of SPCA for his objection towards an identification parade of police officials in connection with an allegation of custodial torture of a bank official in Idukki in 2011.
