Trichy: Union minister of culture and tourism
Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inaugurated an event promoting Kamba Ramayanam recitals at Singar Kovil auditorium in Srirangam on Tuesday. The event will be held in various parts of the state from March 20 to 29.
"Ramayana, in its different formats, continues to connect us all. Whether it was written by Valmiki in Sanskrit, Tulsidas in Hindi, or the great literary poet Kambar in Tamil, the essence of
Ramayana and Lord Rama serves as a uniting force," the minister told reporters.
To a question about Tamil Nadu's tourism potential, Shekhawat said while there is significant scope, especially in spiritual tourism, much more needs to be done. "Considering the potential of Tamil Nadu in the tourism sector, there is still a lot of work to be done," he said.
On the ongoing delimitation row between the state and central govts, he blamed the state govt and chief minister M K Stalin for ‘lying' to the people of Tamil Nadu. "Home minister Amit Shah, during his recent visit to Tamil Nadu, clarified that delimitation will not affect the state. But the chief minister wants to divert people's attention from issues related to the life and development of Tamil Nadu," he alleged.
