VADODARA: A former senate member of M S University on Wednesday demanded that mayor Jyoti Pandya's master's degree given by the faculty of arts should be revoked and withdrawn.
Former senate member Narendra Parmar has claimed that the explanation given by arts faculty officials after the controversy surrounding Pandya's admission in MA (history) itself reveals that her admission at the faculty was not in conformity with the rules.
Parmar has pointed out that the syndicate resolution 20 referred to by the then head of history department R J Shah in his recommendation letter to the registrar (academics) for issuance of provisional eligibility certificate for Pandya does not mention that a diploma candidate can be considered for admission in MA (history).
"Neither the board of studies, which had met on September 18, 1999, nor had the arts faculty board, which had met on January 5, 2000, recommended that a diploma candidate can be considered for admission in MA (history)."
"The recommendation of the faculty board, which was accepted by the syndicate on May 31, 2000, was that for graduates seeking admission in MA (history) and hence, an admission taken on the basis of a wrongly interpreted SR stands null and void," Parmar said.
