VADODARA: The police have issued a lookout circular for Binita Patel, wife of
Kalpesh Patel, the former managing director of Kemrock Industries and Exports Ltd (KIEL). Patel has been arrested by the police in two different cases of cheating and criminal conspiracy. But Binita, who is an accused in the cheating case registered at Sayajigunj police station three days ago, isn’t traceable.
“We have asked for passport details of both Kalpesh and Binita.
Also, a look-out circular has been issued so that she doesn’t leave the country,” said Jaydeepsinh Jadeja, DCP (crime). Jadeja said that the crime branch searched the house of Kalpesh but didn’t find any significant documents.
“Kalpesh isn’t co-operating much in the investigations. But we are now probing how he diverted the loans he got from the banks,” Jadeja added.
KIEL has been accused of diverting the loans taken for the company’s expansion in buying land worth Rs 250 to Rs 300 crore in the special economic zone (SEZ) of Sterling Industries in Sarod village at Jambusar. The Allahabad Bank has registered FIR against Kalpesh and accused him of cheating them worth Rs 443 crores.
