Three of family among 4 killed as car rams into stationary dumper
Varanasi: At least four people, including three of a family, were killed, while a 12-year-old boy suffered grave injuries after their car collided with a stationary dumper on Varanasi-Prayagraj highway near Bihda village under Mirzamurad police limits in the early hours of Thursday.
The accident took place, when the victims were returning home in Manduadih after offering prayers at Vindhyachal shrine in Mirzapur around 5am.
Mirzamurad Police Station officer Ajay Raj Verma said the deceased were identified as Deepak Pandey (35) of Bajrang Nagar Colony under Manduadih, his wife Urmila alias Mala Pandey (32), mother-in-law Phool Kesari Devi (55), and relative Arpita (28). Deepak's son Shivansh Pandey (12) sustained severe injuries and is currently battling for life at BHU trauma centre. The bodies were sent for post-mortem while the dumper was seized. tnn

Preliminary investigations revealed that Deepak, along with his family members and a relative, had visited Vindhyachal in Mirzapur to offer prayers on Wednesday. After midnight, they began their return journey. Whiile passing through Mirzamurad area, Deepak lost control of the steering and collided with a parked dumper in front of the Flipkart warehouse.
Police confirmed that Deepak, his wife, and mother-in-law succumbed to their injuries on the spot, while Arpita died during treatment at the hospital.
