GUNTUR: Stating that any culture will survive only with the survival of the language, Andhra Pradesh high court judge Justice U Durga Prasada Rao called upon the people to strive hard for the conservation of Telugu language.
He said that people should not feel ashamed of for speaking in their mother tongue and should not encourage the children to speak only in foreign languages.

Speaking at Ugadi Sahiti Vasantotsvam organized by Sahiti Samakhya here on Saturday, Justice Prasad said that people could learn number of languages to improve their abilities in the job market.
“It doesn’t mean that you should not speak in your mother tongue. We should keep in mind that our rich culture and heritage could long last only till we conserve the Telugu language,” he noted.
He said that he studied in Orissa where he could not get an opportunity to study in Telugu. However, he learned the language with dedication out of pure lover for it, said Justice Rao. He suggested that youth should be involved in organsing the seminars and workshops to conserve Telugu language for the future generations.
Sahiti Samakhya general secretary SVS Lakshmi Narayana presided over the awards ceremony to which former CBI joint director VV Lakshmi Narayana attended as guest. Noted film lyricist Anantha Sriram and director Indraganti Mohan Krishna were felicitated with literary awards at the glittering function held at Sri Venkateswara Vignana Mandiram.
Lyricist Jonnavithula Ramalingeswara Rao, researcher and writer Dr Harikishan, scholar Dr Paravasthu Phani Sayana Suri, Gurimella Kurmanath, DVM Satyanarayana, television anchor Swapna spoke on the occasion. The speakers said that it was a great honor to be at the silver jubilee celebrations of Sahiti Samakhya which has been relentlessly working for the rejuvenation of Telugu language and culture.
A short story recited by Dr Harikishan left the audience speechless. Several noted professionals including doctors, professors, senior officials attended the session. The convention centre was reverberated with applause when joint collector Dinesh Kumar read out sentences written by noted Tamil writer Subramanya Bharati in the praise of Telugu.
