Eight arrested for killing tribal man near Araku
Visakhapatnam: The ASR district police on Monday arrested eight persons, including two women, for their role in the murder of a 58-year-old tribal man at Dumbriguda hamlet of Lotheru panchayat under Arakuvalley police station limits on Friday night. The man identified as A Domru was murder over suspicion that he was practising witchcraft.
Paderu DSP Shahbaz Ahmed said Domru was brutally assaulted and burnt alive by his fellow tribals on March 21.
The DSP said around six months ago, one A Sohitha had died by suicide due to health issues. Suspecting Domru of practising black magic, some villagers picked a fight with him. However, the village elders had resolved the issue.
A few weeks ago, when A Neelima died of ill-health and this was followed by one more person falling sick, the villagers attacked him and later , burnt him alive.
