Tirupati: The Andhra Pradesh government recommended Tollywood actor-comedian Balireddy Prudhvi Raj as the chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam's Sri Venkateswara Bhakti channel (SVBC).
Earlier this year, the actor who has been a loyalist of YSR Congress party, was appointed as the party's state secretary. He had not only defended the party during debates but also extensively campaigned for YSRC during the 2019 general elections.
In reciprocation, chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy rewarded the actor with the recommendation for the post of chairman for SVBC.
The present TTD chairman,YV Subba Reddy, had been appointed as the chairman of Sri Venkateswara Bhakti channel about a week ago, will now have to step down owing to the state government's fresh directive to appoint Balireddy Prudhvi Raj. The government will pass the official orders on Friday.
Meanwhile, it is also learnt that the state government would soon recommend a suitable replacement for the post of SVBC CEO.
