VIJAYAWADA: For Jayasudha Kapur, a famous South Indian actor known as `sahajanati’ in film circles, the roles in her half-a-decade- long career in politics sees extremities to the core when she joined TDP under the influence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu here on Sunday.
She took a break from the celluloid world to switch to politics following a call from Congress former Chief Minister late Y.S.
Rajasekhar Reddy in 2009. She even contested from Secunderabad Assembly segment and got elected. Jayasudha stood by YSR at a turbulent time when he was waging a lone battle against the formidable Grand Alliance led by Chandrababu and K. Chandrasekhar Rao of the TRS. Now she embarked on a journey towards Naidu, who was Rajasekhar Reddy’s known betenoire throughout the latter’s life. Even when her close friend and fellow actor Jayaprada was with the TDP, she chose to stay away from politics until she received a call from YSR.
It is understood that Jayasudha had to take this extreme decision under political compulsions when the Congress with which she sailed even at critical times post bifurcation of the State finds the going tough in the current Greater Hyderabad Municipal (GHMC) elections. Putting an end to speculations over her defecting to the TRS, Jayasudha embraced the TDP. With her joining, she is expected to give a `star’ attraction to the TDP’s electioneering in the GHMC elections.
