Vijayawada: In a special ceremony held at the Andhra Pradesh police headquarters in Mangalagiri, director general of police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta felicitated police teams who showcased exceptional performance in crime investigation with the prestigious ABCD (Award for Best Crime Detection) awards.
The event recognised the outstanding efforts of police officers who solved some of the most challenging and complex cases using advanced technology and sharp investigative skills. DGP Gupta congratulated the winners for their exemplary service and emphasised the importance of innovation and dedication in modern policing.
The first prize was awarded to the team from West Godavari district, led by superintendent of police (SP) Adnan Nayeem Asmi, for swiftly solving a high-profile murder case. Their efficient handling of the investigation and timely arrest of the accused received high praise.
The second prize went to the team from Sri Sathya Sai district, headed by SP Ratna, for cracking a 26-year-old cold case involving the murder of an infant. The revival and resolution of this decades-old case demonstrated the team's perseverance and meticulous work.
Two teams shared the third prize. The first was the Vizianagaram district team, led by SP Vakul Jindal, which successfully solved a cybercrime case involving a digital arrest. Their expertise in digital forensics and cyber investigation was lauded.
The other third prize was awarded to the Guntur district police team, under the leadership of SP S. Sathish Kumar, for solving the murder case of a minor girl in the Chebrolu police station limits. The team was commended for their prompt action and sensitive handling of the case.
DGP Harish Kumar Gupta appreciated the award-winning officers for their commitment and effectiveness, especially in handling complex cases by leveraging modern technology. He encouraged all police personnel to continue striving for excellence in protecting the public and delivering justice.
