Minister urged to lift export ban on KP onions

Visakhapatnam: Speaking on the ban on KP onions in the Rajya Sabha, commercial tax minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday said the Centre would study the possibility of lifting export ban on KP onions.
KP onions are cultivated over 5,000 acres in and around Kadapa and Prakasam districts. The variety is grown for export to Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.
YSRC national general secretary V Vijayasai Reddy said that the ban on onion export has affected farmers and urged the Centre to lift the ban on export of KP onions. tnn
