CBSE Date Sheet 2025 Live Updates: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is likely to release the timetable for the Class 10 and 12 board examinations soon, on its official website. Recently, CBSE issued the practical exam date sheet, which has provided key details for students and schools preparing for the upcoming board exams. According to the schedule, practical exams for most schools will begin on January 1, 2025, with theory exams starting on February 15, 2025. However, for schools in winter-bound areas, practical exams will be conducted from November 5 to December 5, 2024.

CBSE has also provided a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines for conducting practical exams, project work, and internal assessments in winter-bound schools, which will remain closed in January 2025. Additionally, the board has issued a subject-wise marks distribution for Classes 10 and 12, urging schools to review this information carefully. Once practical marks are submitted, they cannot be altered, so schools need to ensure accuracy in their submissions.

To support the smooth conduct of both practical and theory exams, CBSE has released a detailed list of subjects for each class. This list includes information such as class, subject code, subject name, maximum marks for theory and practical exams, project assessments, internal assessments, and the type of answer booklet required for theory exams. Schools are advised to refer to these guidelines to avoid any discrepancies during the exam process.

In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the 2025 CBSE exam pattern has introduced notable changes to promote competency-based learning. This updated structure emphasizes practical understanding over rote memorization, with a significant shift toward competency-based questions. These questions are designed to test students' ability to apply theoretical concepts to real-life scenarios, thus fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. For Class 10, 50% of the questions will be competency-based, a pattern consistent with previous years. In Class 12, the percentage of competency-based questions will increase from 40% to 50% in 2025. These questions will come in various forms, including Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), case-based inquiries, and source-based integrated questions.

The revised structure for the 2025 exams also means a slight reduction in questions that assess rote learning, encouraging students to develop a deeper understanding of their subjects. As a result, the number of constructed response questions—such as short and long answer types—will be slightly reduced in both Class 10 and Class 12 exams.
