THE World University Rankings by Subject 2025: Top 10 engineering colleges of US

The Times Higher Education (THE) has released the World University Rankings by Subject 2025, covering 11 disciplines: Arts and Humanities, Business and Economics, Computer Science, Education Studies, Engineering, Law, Life Sciences, Medical and Health, Physical Sciences, Psychology, and Social Sciences. Notably, all top positions across these subjects are held by universities from either the United States or the United Kingdom. Of the 11 subjects, US universities secure the top position in nine, highlighting the nation’s lasting edge in global higher education excellence. Here, we focus on how US institutions have performed in the Engineering category of the World University Rankings by Subject 2025. This year, Harvard University, one of the Ivy League’s top institutions, has retained its position at number one, continuing its streak from 2024. Among the top 10 universities in Engineering for 2025, six are from the US, reflecting the country’s stronghold in the field.
These institutions maintain their stronghold due to their consistent research excellence, innovation, and comprehensive engineering programs. Notably, the University of California, Berkeley, and California Institute of Technology also rank highly, reflecting the nation's diverse engineering landscape. Additionally, the inclusion of schools like Georgia Tech, UCLA, and Carnegie Mellon indicates the growing influence of engineering programs across various US universities, showcasing a competitive and varied field within the US higher education system.
