Amid rising temperatures, the Directorate of Education (DoE) has issued strict guidelines for Delhi schools to follow. These guidelines are aimed at ensuring student safety and will help schools cope with the heat.

The first and foremost step to fight against the scorching heat is to stay hydrated. The proper maintenance of RO and water coolers, along with scheduled water breaks, is to be incorporated into the class routine.

To ensure sun protection, schools have taken necessary measures. Schools must create awareness for using the summer essentials like umbrellas, caps, towels, etc., to avoid direct sun exposure. Students, as well as their parents, should be strictly guided not to sit in the sun.

For students to be active and energetic during classes, the authorities have ensured that the classrooms must be properly ventilated. Functional fans should be available to maintain a cooler indoor environment.

Significant measures have been taken by the schools to suspend outdoor activities for the students. No afternoon assemblies and outdoor games would be allowed for the students. Preventive measures would ensure unwanted heat strokes as well.

In order to treat pupils exhibiting symptoms of heat-related illness, first aid kits such as ORS. Staff members at the school should take care of any such disease. Any significant cases must be reported right away to the closest hospital or health center for treatment.

Every safety procedure and hygienic requirement must be followed at all times. At the district and zonal levels, deputy directors of education are in charge of making sure that these rules are strictly abided by in every school.

Safety of the students has been ensured with the strict follow-ups on fire concerns. Strict guidelines have been issued to install and maintain fire extinguishers in the corridors. Installations must follow the guidelines set forth by the fire department.
