BENGALURU: Almost the entire JD(S) first family, led by former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, his sons, former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy and former minister HD Revanna, his daughter-in-law, Bhavani Revanna, and his grandsons, Prajwal Revanna and Nikhil Kumaraswamy, campaigned in public rallies and roadshows in their bastions of Hassan and Ramanagara districts.
Gowda, who reached Hassan in the morning, spoke briefly at a rally in Holenarsipura to campaign for Revanna and made an emotional appeal to the Muslim community to vote en masse for JD(S).
He urged voters of the constituency to send his son to the Vidhana Soudha with a margin of over 1 lakh votes.
That Gowda praised his daughter-in-law Bhavani for taking the lead in campaigning in Hassan was not lost on the crowd, who cheered at the mention of her name. HassanLok Sabha MP Prajwal was by his grandfather’s side and assisted him to the dais.
Kumaraswamy held a massive roadshow in Channapatna and Ramanagara. An estimated 30,000 people were in attendance.
“My son and I will never forget Ramanagara and Channapatna, who have always showered love and affection on our family,” Kumaraswamy said. “While the two national parties, BJP and Congress, have come and campaigned extensively, they are not in tune with the problems of the local people. Consider us as your family and sons from your own home who have never been accused of being part of a commission party.”
He urged people to vote for him and his son Nikhil, who is contesting from the adjoining constituency of Ramanagara, and to propel JD(S) to helm. Gowda joined the two at Ramanagara, urging the people to vote for his grandson Nikhil.
