IMPHAL: A day after Prime Minister
Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah addressed the people of
Manipur ahead of the second phase of the assembly polls,
Congress leader and party’s senior election observer Jairam Ramesh on Wednesday dubbed the PM “the master of Machin Thiba (liar)”.
Modi had addressed a virtual rally, while Shah visited Manipur and held a huge party meeting at Heirok constituency in Thoubal, the home district of Congress strongman and former chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh.
The second phase of the election, covering 22 seats, will be held on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters at a media conference at Manipur PCC headoffice in Imphal, Ramesh said: “Yesterday, the PM proved once again that he is the master of Machin Thiba”.
Rubbishing the duo’s allegations that Congress encourages militancy, Ramesh said both of them have taken full support of an underground organisation, KNO, to completely “murder democracy” in Churachandur and Kangpokpi districts.
