LADAKH: The
Election Commission of India (EC) on March 16 announced the dates the voting and result declaration dates for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The polls will be held in 7 phases from April 19 to June 1, covering a total of 543 constituencies.
Ladakh Lok Sabha elections: DateParliamentary elections in Ladakh will take place in Phase 5 on May 20, with results declared by June 4.

CandidatesThe Ladakh Lok Sabha constituency is set to feature a three-way battle between candidates from the incumbent BJP, the Congress party and an independent contender from Kargil.
Tashi Gyalson, representing BJP and the current chief executive councillor of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (Leh), will face off against Tsering Namgyal, the Congress candidate representing the INDIA alliance. Both Gyalson and Namgyal hail from the Leh district. Mohammad Haneefa Jan, a rebel from the NC party, has thrown his hat into the ring as an independent candidate.

The Union territory of Ladakh has a total of 1,84,803 registered voters who will cast their ballots on May 20 across 598 polling stations. The Leh district accounts for 88,877 voters, while the Kargil district has 95,926 eligible voters.
