NEW DELHI: As the electoral fervor grips Dhar, the Election Commission's announcement on March 16 has set the stage for a high-stakes battle in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Scheduled for May 13, the polls in Dhar constituency are poised to witness a showdown between candidates from the
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the
Indian National Congress, with Savitri Thakur and Raheshyaam Muvel leading their respective parties.
The results for Dhar Lok Sabha Constituency are to be declared on June 4 along with all other Lok Sabha seats.
The Dhar parliamentary constituency in Madhya Pradesh stands as a pivotal political arena characterized by its rich historical legacy, cultural diversity, and economic vibrancy. Witnessing fierce competition between major political parties like the BJP and INC, Dhar reflects a dynamic political landscape. Crucial electoral issues include rural development, agriculture, infrastructure enhancement, employment generation, healthcare, and education.
In 2019, Dhar parliamentary constituency boasted a total of 1,786,151 electors, with 1,344,132 valid votes cast. The Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Chattarsingh Darbar emerged victorious, securing 722,147 votes, while the Indian National Congress candidate Girwal Dinesh trailed closely with 566,118 votes, losing by a margin of 156,029 votes.
Similarly, in the 2014 elections, amidst a total electorate of 1,668,441, the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Savitri Thakur clinched victory with 558,387 votes, leaving the Indian National Congress candidate Umang Singhar behind with 454,059 votes, trailing by 104,328 votes.
In 2009, the Dhar parliamentary constituency witnessed active electoral participation from 1,197,172 electors, with 654,736 valid votes cast. The Indian National Congress candidate Gajendra Singh Rajukhedi emerged victorious, securing 302,660 votes, narrowly defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Mukam Singh Kirade by a margin of 2,661 votes.
