Rajasthan: 115 nominees in fray for first phase of polls

JAIPUR: After the withdrawal of nomination on Friday, 115 candidates are left in the fray for the first phase of parliamentary elections for 13 constituencies on April 29.
Rajasthan chief election officer Anand Kumar said that 172 candidates had filed nomination papers for 13 Lok Sabha seats. After scrutiny of nomination papers, 19 nomination papers were rejected.
On the last day of withdrawal of nominations, 38 candidates withdrew their names on Friday, after which 115 candidates remained in the fray.
While Kota and Jalore have the highest number of 15 candidates each, Bhilwara has the lowest number of four candidates. The number of candidates left in the fray for the 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state for the first phase of polling is Tonk-Sawi Madhopur (eight), Ajmer (seven), Pali (eight), Jodhpur 10, Barmer (seven), Jalore 15, Udaipur (nine), Banswara (five), Chittorgarh 10, Rajsamand 10, Bhilwara (four), Kota 15 and Jhalawar-Baran (seven).
