The Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) has been very special for director Arjunn Dutta. Last year, his debut feature film titled Abyakto was screened at this festival and was well-received by the audience. This year, the director is busy editing his forthcoming film. Yet, he has already decided on the kind of films he wants to watch at the festival.
Speaking to CT, Arjunn said, “Last year, my Abyakto was in the Indian Language Competition.
This year, I will be busy with the post-production of Guldasta. Meanwhile, Abyakto is in the competition at the Guwahati International Film Festival.”
On being asked about the movies he plans to watch at KIFF, Arjunn said, “I am waiting to watch Indrasis Acharya’s Parcel. I was very keen on watching Bhonsle. It is very unfortunate that the film will not be screened at KIFF.” Meanwhile, Arjunn wants to watch Bijukumar Damodaran’s film titled Trees Under The Sun.” Veyilmarangal (Trees Under The Sun) is an Malayalam film that has been written and directed by Bijukumar Damodaran. The film stars
Indrans,
Prakash Bare in lead roles. The film is about a dalit family that lives in an island in
Kerala. The family loses its small house in a flood during a heavy rainy season and sets for Himachal Pradesh to work as guards for an apple orchard. “I really look upto Biju Sir as a filmmaker and love his style of filmmaking and the way he plays with silence. Nature plays a very important part in his narrative. He is a gem of a person and I know him personally. Besides, our films have travelled together to a few festivals. I am looking forward to watch his movie,” he concluded.
