It’s a dream-come-true moment for Monami Ghosh. What could have been the better way to start the New Year? The popular actor is all set to play Mrinal Sen’s wife Gita Sen in the maverick filmmaker’s biopic. Titled ‘Padatik’, the film will be directed by Srijit Mukherji. We already know Chanchal Chowdhury has been cast as Mrinal sen in the biopic, Srijit’s dream project.
An excited Monami says it is indeed a super happy start to 2023. “I simply can’t express my feelings in words. I was out of the country for almost a month and as soon as I reached Kolkata the surprise call from Srijit Mukherji came to me. I was informed the makers would like to see me in Gita Sen’s role. Then I had to go through the look test and all. I am already so excited. I will be sharing the screen with one and only Chanchal Chowdhury. We haven’t met yet but I am eagerly waiting to meet him. Before the shoot starts Srijit da will conduct a workshop and that’s when I will be able to meet him in person,” shared an excited Monami.
Biopics are always subject to public scrutiny. Monami is well aware of the fact that there will be appreciation as well as criticism and she is ready to handle the pressure. “I know there will be discussions. Some might like me or criticize me but this is all part of the craft. This is a huge responsibility and it’s also the first time I am working with Srijit da. If he has thought that I will be the ideal person to play Gita Sen onscreen then there has to be something substantial. My focus will be on giving my best,” added the actress.
