On Friday morning, director Sanghamitra Chaudhuri began shooting her film, Chhaya Juddho, with Indrani Halder at a South Kolkata residence. The film also stars Joy Sen Gupta, Sourav Banerjee and Sangita Sonali. While the story is by Madhumita Ghosh, the director has written the script herself. Giving an insight into the storyline, the director said, At the backdrop of a socio-political war in the tribal region, blooms a love story of Surja Sekhar Basu (Sourav, Tarun Kumars grandson), an IPS officer, and Kajori (Sangita Sonali), a Maoist woman trained under the fearful Guruji (Joy Sen Gupta).
Surja, the only brother of social activist Shaborni Basu (Indrani), is posted at the Metiagarh PS in the Shalboni area. What happens after his posting forms the crux of the film.
To add a real feel to the film, the unit is now planning to shoot in Birbhum and Bankura with real guns and activists. Initially, when we went to the locations for a recce, we faced some sort of a threat, but now, the people out there have gone all out to support us, Sanghamitra added.
